LESSONS at the THRESHOLD of the GARDEN || video+sound
- Sessions
This is an experimental documentary to record, remember and recall our experience of the session. It is composed at the intersection of few exercises, and different artistic techniques assembled together, overlapping layers of perception and temporalities.
First - Uta Gerullies of Unavision invited the participants to find a way to greet the plants and be in relation to them, sensing and listening deeply. Establishing this connection in a creative way, moved us to draw, paint, assemble earthy collage or a fragile rosemary sculpture, record sounds and walk blindly.
A second layer - filming the exercise. Nikolay Oleynikov set the camera to a 20 seconds frame parameter for each take. Using this simple technique, he captured random sequences that open multiple interpretations of what was happening between people and the garden.
An other layer - Graeme Thomson and Silvia Maglioni worked with the sounds that Graeme extracted en plein air. They processed the sounds, synthesized them, and edited together with excerpts of a conversation we had, our eyes closed, with local educators, migrants, practitioners sharing their experience of pedagogy.
