UNDER the ANIMAL SHELTER
- Sessions
This FHU Lab session continued the collaboration established with Inland and Casa delle AgriCulture - Tullia e Gino \ Castiglione D’Otranto around pastoralism and the role of animals in an agroecological perspective.
building a henhouse
18 students from Stockholm Konstfack University guided by Inland 's member Sergio Montero Bravo have lived, learnt and worked with the local farmers, scholars, activists and refugees to build a shelter for the community’s animals, with sustainable local material. A didactic hut where hens, donkeys and sheeps will be hosted, as the departure point to rethink the surrounding area, where the Common Mill is also under construction, and where dreams of a park of life/ park of biodiversity started to be gestured.
The collaboration with artist and agroecologist Fernando Garcia Dory and the Inland collective has progressed through this very hands-on lab of Free Home University, an occasion to explore local material like hemp+lime composite, ‘canne’ of bamboo and agriculture waste. Techniques and tools from Salento, Ghana, Nigeria and Sweden were tested and led to a few prototypes. An other collective and convivial learning, where different pedagogies and common intentions where shared with curiosity and generosity.
