Alessandra participated into Chiamata alle arti (Call to Arts): the 2020 Forum Arte Contemporanea, in the first round table convened by Pietro Gaglianò and Institute of Radical Imagination, represented by Marco Baravalle and Emanuele Braga.
This concise audio-video piece is assembled from the footage of various self-organised initiatives of the food\medicine delivery campaigns from the Black Panthers' People’s Free Food Program to the recent once, organized during the pandemics in Italy, US, Russia and other places
The theme proposed for discussion was From the creative city to the caring city, proposals for new relational paradigms. Among the questions stirred up, we discussed how in the current material, immaterial and relational crises, art could dis-invest from its entanglement with the logic of the event, the consumption and the objectification, its implication with real estate and gentrification, market values and labor exploitation, and instead intentionally reconnect more deeply with politics of care and practices reaffirming and defending all forms of life in common. All participants shared a deep criticism toward the neoliberal art world, its intrinsic hyper-mobility, countering the need of a new predicament of locality, the importance of long term, community-centered and socially engaged initiatives, wished for deeper forms of listening and radical spaces of learning. Alessandra was invited to share about our work in free home university LINK TO VIDEO ZOOM CALL and in the Ecoversities Alliance.
Every one was also asked to post a 5 min audio/ video reflection, here is her piece La cura (che vogliamo) / The care (that we want) LINK in which she poetically recall some of our collective practices and the spirit that supports this work.
