A three-day editorial intensive and convivial process of making books as a way to build larger communities, host difficult conversations, bridge different knowledge systems and learn from other cosmo-livings.
Part of her research project Widening Ecologies of Knowledges: Art, Pedagogy and Community Building, supported by the 11 edition of Italian Council and Direzione Generale Creativita’ Contemporanea (2022) curator, writer and educator Alessandra Pomarico gathered in Graz with the co-conveners of the School of the We, a pedagogical artistic project developed with local communities and in the public spaces.
Questioning how a collaborative project can continue to exist beyond its term, how research can be shared and knowledge transferred across different publics, we thought of publications as convivial tools.
Can a book become an invitation, a ritual to weave and celebrate our relationships, and our different ways of knowing?
How a book could undo or expanding beyond text-based traditions, and the subject-object separation to include processes of orality, relationality, materiality, and embodied practices?
How a publication can produce, invite and inspire processes of care, conviviality, resistance and community?
Digging in the archive of The School of the WE and remembering our shared experiences in the project along with the different communities in Graz, the colloquia produced ideas to prototype a series of tool kit for learners: an exercise book, a composition book and a catalogue.
